The Rubio Report

Most people consume news through blindfolds: headlines without context, opinions without evidence, reactions without origin. The information exists; the understanding doesn't.

A full brand identity and website build for a geopolitics platform founded by Nico Rubio, positioned around a single idea: most people consume news through blindfolds, headlines without context, opinions without evidence, reactions without origin. The information exists; the understanding doesn't. The Rubio Report exists to remove that blindfold: pairing a live AI news feed with Nico's own analysis to deliver unbiased information; what you see without the blindfold. That concept became the literal anchor of the identity. I designed the double-R mark and its variations in Illustrator, with a band of concealment cutting across the letterforms; the blindfold made visible, so the logo itself performs the brand's promise: obscuring, then revealing. I carried this into motion for the landing page, building the animation in Claude Design: the identity opens on a pair of eyes blinking, then resolves into the full logo; the blindfold lifting in real time. Content is organised around four pillars: Human Nature, How Societies Work, Power & The World, and Ideas That Matter, which structure how the site's live AI news feed, powered by a live RSS feed, sorts and categorises incoming news, pulling sources together into analysis rather than isolated headlines. I built the typography system around PP Telegraph paired with JetBrains Mono, and a five-colour palette (Crimson, Graphite, Off White, Noir, Deep Burgundy) chosen to feel serious and editorial rather than corporate. The site is built on Lovable and connected to Nico's Substack, so his written analysis lives alongside the live feed. I also designed a full set of social brand templates to extend the identity across his social channels. The website is currently in the process of being finished.
